A Fully Dual Contained System from Tank to Dosing Cabinet
Often in dual contained storage systems, small components between tanks and dosing cabinetry aren’t dual contained. Inlets and outlets are often single walled systems, connected to a dual skin storage tank. While this setup does limit the chance of environmental leakage, these become the weakest points in the system.
To remove this issue, Fusion designed a fully dual contained system for client Carlton United Breweries (CUB) to store corrosive chemicals used for washing / cleaning applications.
The system included two tanks connected together via a dual-contained PE balance line and valve box, allowing the tanks to operate together or independently. These two tanks were also directly connected to a PE dosing cabinet, which includes an electrical leak detection system, to stop the pumps in the event of a leak. The interconnecting pipe was fully contained back to the bund formed by the dual skin of the tanks; inclusive of all flanged connections.
Notably, flange connections are difficult to dual contain and are often left as a single contained system as a result. This engineering challenge was overcome by Fusion’s engineering and design team.
