When a North Carolina manufacturer of hand cleansers and de-sanitizers needed reliable level measurement for their bulk storage tanks, they turned to Flowline level measurement products.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
A critical ingredient in hand cleaners is sodium laureth sulfate, a highly effective foaming agent that’s used in the majority of their products. However, it’s a challenging liquid to measure because it is sticky, very low dielectric and extremely foamy when agitated.
The Pulse Radar Solution
Flowline suggested the use of pulse radar level sensors (unaffected by foam) installed in a metal stand-pipe to maximise the RF signal strength and reflectivity off the surface of the low dielectric media.
The Flowline pulse radar level sensor provides continuous level data to the PLC, which in turn, monitors the tank levels and actuates low level alarms for chemical distributor replenishment.
