Dual Containment
From Agru Austria & Franklin Fueling Systems
Dual containment (also called secondary or double containment), are specialised piping systems designed to provide maximum safety and protection from hazardous liquids and materials, that could potentially be dangerous to people or the environment.
In dual containment systems an outer layer of piping protects an inner / carrier pipe from damage and also acts as a shield between the environment and the dangerous fluid in the inner pipe.
Fusion stocks three main types of industrial plastic dual containment systems in different materials for a wide range of applications. More information about these systems is below.
Manufacturers

Agru Poly-flo
This system comes in PP/PP or PE/PE and is joined in a simultaneous welding process making it easy and quick to install. Unlike other dual containment systems, Agru Polyflo requires no additional spacers. The inner and outer pipes are extruded / injection moulded in one piece, a design that saves space and makes installation similar to non-dual contained “single” pipe systems.
Benefits
- Fast & simple installation
- One solid system
- Spacers not required
- Low profile
Applications
- Oil & gas
- Water & wastewater treatment
- Food & beverage manufacturing
- Chemical processing

Solvent Systems
Built by Fusion from Charlotte Pipe Co pipe and fittings. Fusion’s solvent cement jointed system uses both CPVC & UPVC material options for inner and outer pipe and fittings. This provides three options to tailor a system to your needs: 1) UPVC inner / UPVC outer, 2) CPVC inner / UPVC outer and 3) CPVC inner / CPVC outer.
Benefits
- Easy to install
- Suits most chemical applications
- High pressure & temperature
- Leak detection available
Applications
- Water & wastewater treatment
- Food & beverage manufacturing
- Chemical processing

Franklin UPP [Universal Petrol Pipe] Fuel System
Specifically for use in fuel service lines, this is a complete pipe and containment fitting system from Franklin Fueling Systems with a 5 bar pressure and a -0.6 bar vacuum rating.
This system provides a very high level of safety from near zero permeation, a burst pressure capability in excess of 20 bar and an operational temperature range of -40 to +50°C.
Benefits
- Co-axial sleeve pipe co-extruded over a UPP extra lined primary pipe.
- A leak detection system is available.
- Passed testing to EN14125:2013.
Applications
- Minesite Fueling Forecourts
- Maritime / defence industry
- Airports
- Where EN14125-approved pipe is required.
