Fusion’s WA plastic fabrication facility designed, manufactured, and assisted with the delivery and installation of custom natural HDPE lobster holding tanks for the Brolos/Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative at their Geraldton and Welshpool facilities in Western Australia. These tanks maintain optimal conditions for the lobsters by holding chilled, filtered, and oxygenated water.
The video below, produced by the Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative, provides a drone flythrough of the Welshpool facility, showcasing the holding tanks in action.
This project was unique due to the sheer size of the tanks, with the largest exceeding 23 meters in length. This posed significant challenges for our workshop, as well as for transportation and installation. The tanks were constructed using sheet butt-welded HDPE to create long, continuous sections for the base, sides, and dividers. For angled joins, our plastic fabricators used extrusion welding to bond the sheets together.
The video below also features a timelapse of the manufacturing process at our WA facility.
Thanks to meticulous planning and teamwork, the project was a great success.
