Angled Photo of a Fusion designed and fabricated Polypropylene Gantry for a DPIRD Agricultural Project
DPIRD required a non-metallic gantry for an experimental agricultural project. Metal frameworks were unsuitable as they risked interfering with sensitive sensors. Fusion designed and fabricated a custom gantry primarily from Polypropylene (PP) and PVC, avoiding any metal components. Thermoplastics provided the necessary strength while ensuring complete compatibility with sensor technology. Key design features included:
  • All-plastic construction: no metal parts to affect sensors
  • Corrosion-free and weather-resistant materials for outdoor use
  • Lightweight, durable frame for ease of handling and installation
  • Tailored fabrication to meet DPIRD’s specific experimental requirements
The gantry enabled DPIRD to conduct accurate testing without risk of sensor interference. The project highlights Fusion’s ability to engineer innovative, non-metallic solutions for specialised research applications.
