A specialist engineering contractor required several process pump skids to be assembled at its Western Australian facility.
The project included cobalt and nickel blowdown and recirculation pump skids, along with associated UPVC transition pieces in several nominal sizes. Each assembly incorporated a combination of Fusion-supplied pipework materials and client-supplied mechanical equipment.
Fusion sent an experienced technician to the client’s premises to complete the UPVC pipework installation. Working from the supplied assembly drawings, the technician set out the pipe routes and coordinated connection points around the skid frames, pumps, valves, actuators and instruments.
Fusion supplied selected Schedule 80 UPVC pipe and fittings for the project. The pipework was measured, cut and dry fitted before the joints were completed using the appropriate solvent-cement joining process.
Careful set-out was required to maintain alignment between the UPVC pipework, flanged equipment connections and structural supports. The skids incorporated a range of pipe sizes and configurations, including compact manifold arrangements and larger pipe runs serving paired pumps.
The pumps, valves, actuators and instruments were supplied by the client. Fusion’s role was to incorporate these components into the pipework assemblies in accordance with the supplied drawings.
Completing the work at the client’s facility allowed assembly decisions to be made alongside the wider skid build. It also reduced unnecessary transport and handling of the partially completed equipment.
Fusion’s site-services team supports industrial plastic piping projects throughout Western Australia. Services include:
- On-site plastic pipe fabrication and assembly
- Solvent-cement jointing of UPVC and CPVC systems
- Butt, extrusion and electrofusion welding
- Installation of valves, instruments and associated components
- Pipework modifications and repairs
- Assembly from client-supplied drawings
- Coordination with existing equipment and structural supports
Whether the project involves a new installation, a prefabricated skid or modifications to existing pipework, Fusion can provide experienced personnel and the required plastic piping materials.
